Environmental Ethics

The Environmental Ethics pursued by Chibo was born in a context in which legislation, organizational and economic policies oriented to stimulate the protection of the environment and the protection of worker's health and safety, together with a widespread attention to environmental issues, contribute to make these elements a cornerstone for the company, with a view to continuous improvement towards the prevention and abatement of pollution and the improvement of the working environment.

With this in mind, the company's Management envisages that the entire organization operates in accordance with the indications of the Environmental Management System, drawn up in accordance with the UNI EN ISO 9001 standard since 1996, in full compliance with applicable environmental legislation and regulations, and defines objectives and programs inherent also in respect of safety, which it applies with the full participation of employees, favoring preventive problem-solving through the contribution of each of them.

Management is therefore committed to the following objectives:

  • obtaining continuous improvements in the Environmental Management System and environmental performance to strive for the complete elimination/control of significant environmental impacts;

  • continuous discussion with internal and external stakeholders to eliminate contrasts or misunderstandings and promotion of awareness and involvement of its workers and suppliers on environmental and health and safety protection issues;

  • development of a healthy and stimulating work environment to ensure the safety and satisfaction of its employees;

  • compliance with applicable environmental legal and regulatory requirements and other requirements to which the company subscribes;

  • reduction of waste generation and increase of the related recyclable fraction;

  • reduction in the use or removal of hazardous substances;

  • promotion of natural resource conservation;

  • improvement of control systems for atmospheric emissions, water discharges, noise emissions and any releases to soil and groundwater;

  • research into the best available technologies for environmental protection;

  • continuous training and information in order to create the necessary know-how in the environmental and safety fields;

  • ongoing efforts to keep safety aspects in focus and foster coordination among various company resources (vertical cooperation).

These objectives are developed in the Environmental Program and Risk Assessment, which are the main management tool for translating and implementing the principles of environmental protection.

Management is committed to periodically reviewing the contents of the Environmental Policy in order to adapt it to changes in operating practices, technologies, legislative requirements and environmental aspects/impacts.

Management also undertakes to disseminate this Policy to all persons working for or on behalf of the organization, and to make it available to the public.
